I love the look of stackable bracelets! Especially leather ones. But let’s face it… If you want to stack them, buying  three or four of them at a time can add up quick! I have been wanting to try this hex nut bracelet tutorial I found on pintrest for a long time. . .

So here’s my take on the DIY stackable leather bracelet.

Materials

- Hex Nuts. I used some that my hubby already had, they are a little bigger than the ones in the inspiration. You can find these in your local hardware store. The amount is up to you depending on the look you are going for.

- Leather or twine or rope or string… You can pretty much use whatever you want as long as you can braid it. I bought leather from Michaels (be sure to use you 40% off coupon otherwise it can be pricey)

- Rings and Lobster Clips. You can find these at your local craft store as well. I had some left over from another jewelry project I did.

Step One

Cut 3 pieces of leather equal in length. Be sure to measure you wrist and then double the length just to be sure you have plenty .

Step Two

Attach a lobster clip (not pictured) to one ring. Tie the leather strips in a knot around the ring.

Step Three

jitt3Tape your leather down and braid. This is the trickiest part in determining how much to braid if you want your hex nuts in the center of your bracelet. I had to redo my first time because I didn’t braid enough.

Step Four

jitt4Braid about 2 inches (depending on your wrist size) and the. Braid in the hex nuts one at a time. I used 12 total.

Step Five

Finish braiding the remaining leather (about 2 inches). Be sure to leave enough material to tie in a knot at the end.

Step 6

jitt5Knot the leather strips around a ring at the end (lobster clip pictured).

And voila, now you have a finish bracelet in under 10 minutes. Make a couple of these in different colors and stack. Since I had the hex nuts and clasps I spent a total of $8. I made 3 bracelets and have plenty extra leather for additional bracelets.

Happy Crafting!
